Mel's Boudoir and Glamour Experience

Lets ask Mel…

Tell me a little about your story! who are you, what is important to you!!

I am Mel! I am a 35 year old single (…but looking ;)…. ) woman. I own my own home which is one of my biggest achievements other than opening my own successful business. My struggles with body image/ anxiety started around age 5. I have struggled my whole life with loving who I am. I have always had the best friends in the entire world. I feel truly LUCKY that my friends are basically family. Love is important to me. Being loved by family and friends, loving myself, documenting other people’s love and eventually finding love myself!  Also coffee…coffee is very important! ;)

Why did you choose Black Book studio for your Boudoir Session?

I knew I wanted to do a session for myself for the last few years but I knew it would have to be with someone that could make me completely comfortable. Amanda was the perfect person to hire for the job! She is fun, makes you laugh and feel comfortable in your own skin! Her studio is extremely beautiful and impressive and you just get the feeling of luxury right when you walk in the door!

What was your original purpose for booking your shoot?

Confidence! It has been a rough few years. Physically and mentally. I wanted to feel like myself again with an added boost of confidence! I wanted to feel beautiful. I am a successful business owner and I give my all to my clients. I focus so much attention on making other people happy that sometimes I forget that I am also allowed to be happy and have a life myself. This was the year I decided to put boundaries in place and work on ME! It is an ongoing battle that I still struggle with but that photoshoot was my jumping point on loving myself again!

What was your biggest fear before this shoot?

Not feeling comfortable in my own skin! There are so many parts of my body that I would like to change (I am working on loving myself regardless) but it was hard to go into a shoot when you are not totally happy, right? Well…I might have walked in scared, self conscious, unhappy with my body…but I left feeling like a total boss babe Queen! Seeing myself through Amanda’s vision just made me cry. I think during the reveal I said “THAT’S ME?!?” multiple times. It was an incredible experience that I would 100% do again!

How did you feel during your session?

Comfortable and nervous all at the same time! It was so fun to glam up! My advice is to put all your trust in Amanda! She will help you pose and make you look amazing before snapping away! Just the poses themselves make you feel sexy and confident! Let yourself go and enjoy the moment!

How do you feel after your session and after seeing all your images and products?

Like a total boss babe! Choosing my collection was harder than I thought it was going to be!

Can you describe how this experience was for you?

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! It was just what I needed to light my fire again.

What advice would you give someone thinking about booking their shoot?’

Put all your trust in Amanda! If you think something is uncomfortable…its going to look HOT! Trust me! Its good to push yourself beyond your comfort zone, but I also think its important to be YOU! I brought several outfits with me but I ended up LOVING a simple sweater showing my shoulders. Simple! Be your own kind of sexy!
